Frederick Grase “Ready Freddy” was born January 29, 1955 in Enterprise, AL to the late Louie Frank and Willie Ruth Grase. He attended Enterprise City Schools and graduated from Enterprise High School, Enterprise, AL.
While in high school he began working at Van Carmichael where he repaired jukeboxes, cigarette machine, and pool tables. After graduating, he opened Ready Freddy‘s Record Shop. Soon after he began working at WKMX Radio as DJ and eventually was promoted to Vice President of Sales. He worked at WKMX for over 30 years. After the sale of the radio station, he worked briefly at WOOF Radio in Dothan, AL. Freddy was also an entrepreneur and had many businesses (JFG Sound/Specialty Advertising and Ready Freddy Remodel and Repair) throughout his life.
At an early age, he joined Elam Baptist Church in Coffee Springs, AL and later joined St. Beulah Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed teaching the youth Sunday school class, being the superintendent of vacation bible school, and chairman of the deacon’s ministry.
Freddy loved to serve his community. He was the past president of the Red Cross, member of the Jaycee, member of the Enterprise City School Board, and served as the president of the board 1998-1999.Freddy loved his family, music, and fashion. He was truly one of a kind and was the life of the party.
He was proceed in death by his son: Jason Frederick Grase; siblings: Louis Frank, Willie Frank, and Olivia Grase Smith.
Freddy leaves to mourn a wife: Diann, Enterprise, AL, two daughters: Amanda Grase, Tuscaloosa, AL and Roxanne Grase, Enterprise, AL. One grandson: Aiden Connor Storey, Tuscaloosa, AL; siblings: Simon (Barbara) Grase, Sanford, NC Oleane Cole, Dallas, TX, and Oretha (Earl) Grase-Bandy, Enterprise, AL. Devoted cousin: Jamal Scott, Enterprise, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
